Firenze
Wednesday 19 Sept
Florence on the second last day. Parked by an ancient wall and walked north until we found the River Arno. Followed this east to the Ponte Vecchio. It was crammed with people looking at what turned out to be one jewellry shop after another. Made our way further north and came across a copy of Michelangelo's David is in front of the Palazzo Vecchio as we rounded a corner. The Duomo, built over 170 years and finished in 1466 was another 'must see'. We waited in line to climb the steps. I went as far as the rim around the dome; Gerry went to the very top ... 463 steps!
